Mortgage Rates at Records Low

Just this past week, the 30-year fixed rate mortgage averaged at 4.12% with an average of 0.7 point. Last year, at this time, the rate was 4.35%. The 15-year fixed rate mortgage was at 3.33% with an average 0.6%. These figures represent the lowest rate since Freddie Mac started keeping record in 1971. Mortgage rates are expected to stay low for a while due to the unemployment rate and the economic situation overall that’s keeping the yields down on U.S. Treasury bonds which determine mortgage interest rates.

This is a great time to buy a home, with great bargains in the real estate market and low interest rates.
